AfterHow to make it Studio Ghibli art style
One photo, one setting, one image. There is no prompt to write.
- 1
Upload one photo
Drop in a JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC file up to 10 MB. Portraits, pets, scenery and buildings all work, as long as the main subject is clear and not tiny or blurry.
- 2
Pick a setting, add a note if you like
Keep my scene redraws your own background. Four settings move you to a new place: a summer meadow, an enchanted forest, a seaside town or a rainy bus stop in the evening. Golden sunset keeps the place and changes the light to a warm sunset sky. The optional box takes up to 300 characters, such as a small forest spirit next to you, and is added to your request.

Generate and download
Press Ghibli My Photo and the result appears beside your photo, which stays in the panel for comparison. Download saves the file as the model returned it, with no watermark from us.
Six settings for your Ghibli-style picture
Each Studio Ghibli AI image uses one setting. Pick the one you want most, because your free image covers a single result.
Keep my scene
Your own room, street or garden is redrawn in the same hand-drawn style. In our test with a photo taken at a desk, the lamp, backpack, posters and window all came back as painted versions in their places.
Summer meadow
Tall grass, wildflowers and big white clouds in a blue sky. In our test it replaced a living room completely and also added a small tabby cat that was not in the photo, so expect a few invented details.
Enchanted forest
Huge mossy trees, soft beams of sunlight and floating specks of light. It suits a quiet portrait or a pet photo that should feel like a fairy tale.
Seaside town
A sunny hillside town with red roofs, flowers on the balconies and a sparkling sea below. A good match for a travel photo or a summer portrait.
Rainy evening
A quiet country bus stop with puddles, glowing street lamps and soft rain. It turns an everyday snapshot into a calm, moody frame.
Golden sunset
Instead of naming a new place, this one lights the scene with a warm sky full of pink and orange clouds. Choose it when you want an evening glow more than a change of location.
Which AI can make Ghibli art: three ways to do it
Studio Ghibli AI art is on offer from chat apps, dedicated filter sites and this page. Here is how they differ.
| This page | General AI chat apps | Ghibli filter sites | |
|---|---|---|---|
| How you ask for the look | Pick a setting, the style prompt is built in | Describe the style in your own words | One click, one fixed look |
| Where the picture is set | Your own scene or one of five settings | Wherever you describe | Your photo's own scene |
| Free use | First image free | Depends on the app's plan | Typically a free try, then paid credits |
| Sign-up to start | Not needed | Depends on the app | Some ask for a login, some don't |
What the Studio Ghibli AI trend is
In March 2025 people began uploading photos to ChatGPT's new image model and asking for the look of Studio Ghibli films. The pictures spread across social media, news sites explained the trend, and dedicated Ghibli filter sites followed. That is what most people mean by Studio Ghibli AI today: a real photo redrawn in that hand-drawn anime look by a general AI image model.
The trend also drew criticism. Animators and fans argue that copying a studio's hand-drawn style with AI, without its consent, devalues human work, and the debate about style imitation is still open. If that matters to you, it is worth knowing before you upload.
Ghibli-style, not Studio Ghibli
This page is not affiliated with or approved by Studio Ghibli. It runs Google's Gemini image model (Nano Banana 2) with a fixed prompt. The model is told to draw a 2D film still inspired by classic hand-drawn Japanese animation: soft gouache-and-watercolor backgrounds, warm natural colors, gentle cel shading and clean line art. It is told not to make a 3D render or a photo filter, and not to add text, borders or a watermark.
We don't redraw film characters or rebuild scenes from the films. The other settings are generic places, a meadow, a forest, a seaside town and a rainy bus stop, plus Golden sunset, which only changes the light, so the picture is about your photo, not someone else's movie.
