Privacy Policy

At Photo to Painting (photo-to-painting.com) an AI model repaints a photo you upload as a new image in the art style you choose. Below you will find each type of information the site deals with, the reason it is needed, which other parties see it, and when it is removed. "We", "us" and "our" refer to the people who operate photo-to-painting.com.

The short version

• Your photo is only used to paint the image you requested. It is never sold, published or fed into the training of AI models.
• We hold on to uploaded photos only as long as running the service needs them, and we remove yours as soon as you ask.
• To share out free paintings fairly, we store a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address plus a device identifier. Your actual IP address is never stored.

• You don't create an account here, so we never ask for your name or your email address.

Information you send us

Your photo. The picture you upload to the painting tool, once your browser has shrunk and compressed it. With it come the art style you selected and, on tools that offer it, any extra instructions you write.

Messages. When you write to us by email, we keep the thread so that we can answer you.

Information the site collects on its own

• Free-painting allowance. A salted hash of your IP address, an identifier your browser works out from its own settings, and the number of free images you have already used. That browser identifier is also kept in your browser's local storage.
• Generation records. The tool and style used, the time, whether the image came out, and links to the photo you uploaded and the finished result.
• Request logs. As with every website, our host handles your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, both to serve the site and to fend off attacks.

• Visit statistics. Visits are counted with Plausible Analytics, which sets no cookies and stores nothing that could identify you. All we see are totals like page views, countries and the sites that sent visitors.

Cookies and local storage

We don't set any cookies for visitors. Your browser's local storage holds the device identifier mentioned above and whether you prefer the light or dark theme. Clearing this site's data in your browser deletes both.

Outside services that handle your data

A small number of outside services help us run the site. Each one gets only what it needs for the task listed:

• Cloudflare — hosts the site and stores uploaded photos; like any web host it sees your IP address when you connect.
• AI image model providers — receive your photo and the chosen art style, run the model that paints your image, and keep the result for a limited time so it can be downloaded.

• Plausible Analytics — counts visits to our pages with no cookies and without knowing who you are.

We will also hand over information if the law demands it, or if doing so is necessary to prevent fraud or keep people safe. We never sell personal information and never share it for advertising purposes.

How long we hold it

• Uploaded photos: stored only for running the service; send us an email and we will delete yours.
• Finished paintings: held for a limited time by the AI provider that created them so you can download them, and then deleted. Download any you want to keep.
• Free-painting allowance records: for as long as free images are on offer; no raw IP address is part of them.

Your choices

Email us and we will tell you what information we have about you, give you a copy, fix it or erase it, your uploaded photos included. You will hear back within 30 days. Depending on where you live (the EU, the UK or California, for instance), you may have additional legal rights, such as the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.

Children

Photo to Painting is not intended for anyone younger than 18, and no one may upload a photo of a person under 18. Pets and places are welcome, but if we find out we have a photo of someone under that age, we delete it.

Security

All traffic is sent over HTTPS. Before an upload is stored, we check that it really is an image, and every file is kept at a long, random address that isn't listed anywhere. Anyone holding that address can view the file, so don't share your result links.

Where your data is processed

Our host and AI providers operate servers in a number of countries, which means your data may be handled outside the country where you live.

Updates to this policy

Whenever we revise this policy, the date at the top of this page is updated too. If a revision changes how your photos are used, we will announce it on the site before it applies.
